Instructions:

  1. Wash the rice and set it aside.

  3. Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise to the pot and fry for about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the rice and fry for a few minutes until the rice turns slightly brown.
  5. Add salt and water to the pot and bring it to a boil.
  6. Lower the heat and simmer for around 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
  7. While the rice is cooking, marinate the chicken and beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, onion, ginger, lemon juice, and sugar.
  8. Heat some oil in a pan and cook the marinated chicken and beef until it's browned and cooked through.
  9. When the rice is cooked, transfer it to a serving dish or a banana leaf.
  10. Serve the rice with the cooked chicken and beef, some fried tempeh, sliced cucumbers, and sambal belacan (spicy shrimp paste).
